July 16 – Dunham Tavern & CiCLEvia Tour

Join us for a 15 mile ride to the historic Dunham Tavern, 6709 Euclid Ave and Bike Cleveland’s CiCLEvia Central. This ride is on city streets and the bike lane on Euclid Avenue.

The ride starts at 12:30 p.m. at Fairfax Elementary School, corner of Scarborough and Lee Rd. and return before 5 p.m.

Dunham Tavern 

This historic tavern was built in 1824 and has survived at its original location for nearly 200 years. The Dunham Tavern later became a stagecoach stop and a taproom was added. It was then owned by landscape architect Donald Gray.  The building served as a studio for WPA artists and printmakers during the Great Depression. 

Optional: Tour the 1st & 2nd floor of the museum, $5. 

CiCLEvia – Play in the Street!

The CiCLEvia Central event is on Community College/Quincy Avenue from East 55th to East 24th Street. The road will be closed to cars and open for a fun, free afternoon! The open streets theme has the road closed to motorized traffic and open to people on bikes, roller skates, skate boards, walkers, dancers and more. 

The celebration will include several hubs: Family Reunion, Arts/Culture, Ultimate Recess, and Health/Safety with games and food.

Depart Fairfax School at 12:30 p.m.
Arrive Dunham Tavern 1 p.m.
Depart Dunham Tavern 2 p.m.
Arrive ciCLEvia at 2:15 p.m.
Depart ciCLEvia at 4 p.m.
Arrive Fairfax School, before 5 p.m.

The name ciCLEvia (see-CLE-vee-uh) is derived from the ciclovias of Latin American cities such as Bogota, Colombia, where over 70 miles of streets are open to people every Sunday and holiday.
