May is Bike Month

May is National Bike Month, even in 2021. Cities in our area, such as Cleveland Heights and University Heights, have joined cities around the country in declaring May Bike Month. This year we plan to have events to engage the Heights bicycling community while keeping a safe distance, even if that means having events remotel

5/4: HBC Town Hall. Heights Bicycle Coalition will be hosting a Town Hall on Zoom on Tuesday, May 4th, at 7 PM. This event is an excellent opportunity to ask questions, make comments, and express ideas regarding cycling in the Heights Area. You can join this meeting on zoom using the following information: Meeting ID

763 4606 9552; Security Passcode 4DuFPm

5/19: Ride of Silence. Join cyclists around the country as we participate in the Ride of Silence. The Ride of Silence has taken place on the third Wednesday of May for the last 19 years. It honors the cyclists who have been injured or killed in accidents with motorists. This ride raises awareness and asks that we all share the roads. This year the Ride of Silence will occur across the Nation on May 19th, at 7 PM. HBC members invite you to participate in one of the following ways: 1. Ride solo 2. Ride with household members, or 3. Join HBC members who will ride from John Carroll University in University Heights towards different locations in the Heights Area. Details of this ride will be updated on the HBC website communicated via social media.

5/21: Bike-to-Work Day. Share your bike to work pictures, videos, or stories with us! Are you working from home? Don’t let it stop you. We want to see your work-from-home bike-to-work commute! Let’s make this go viral (in a non-COVID way) using the hashtag #HBCBikeToWork on your Instagram and Facebook posts.

All month long: Commuting routes. HBC wants all cyclists to feel safe commuting by bike. We encourage residents of our communities to reach out to us if they need help or want suggestions on planning their commutes.

Stay connected to our cycling community via Facebook, Instagram, or Strava. We will announce additional details and other initiatives on our website http://heightsbicyclecoalition.org.
